- Acrobat PDF 1.3 or 1.4 (no later versions).
- Possibly provide a single-page PDF.
- Composite CMYK (no color separation).
- CMYK (no RGB) with number of color separations to be equal to number of printing plates/print colors.
- Text channel must to be separated from black (K) images channel
- Border and lines:
- Offset and web offset printing:
- minimum thickness allowed for lines single color is 0.2 pt;
- minimum thickness allowed for multicolors lines is 0,5 pt.
- Gravure:
- minimum thickness allowed for text is 0,15/0,20 mm;
- minimum thickness allowed for knockout text is 0,25/0,30 mm.
- Images resolution: 300 DPI
- Bitmap resolution: least 800 DPI.
- All elements in K100 will be overprinted.

Multilingual / Co-editions
- A PDF file with CMYK images (without text) must to be separated from the PDF file with only text for each language version/edition. (Have a look at separate section specifically for InDesign).
- In case of PDF files with Spot Color text to be used as "standard" for any language version/edition, costs for processing to make the files will be charged.
File names
- The file's name have to refer the page number followed by the title (less than 999 pages including the blank pages).
Example: 001_Title.pdf; 160_Title.pdf
- In case of multilingual, the acronym of the language must be placed before the title.
Example: ITA_001_Title.pdf; TED_001_Title.pdf
- A multipage PDF files have to refer the first and the last page number followed by the title.
Example: page 1 to 160: 001_160_Title.pdf
- The correction files need to report the number of version at the end. If this is the first correction you marked N1 or N2 if it is the subsequent correction.
Example:
First correction: 001_Title_N1.pdf; 008_Title_N1.pdf
Second correction: 001_Title_N2.pdf; 008_Title_N2.pdf
Size and layout
- PDF files must have a trim box with the same size of trimmed size and the Media box equal for all pages.
All pages must have a minimum trimming of 4 mm on four sides.
